France AFM-Telethon partnership features hope, color and support

Reflecting on our commitment to the communities we serve, our team in France recently completed a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project at Raymond-Poincaré Hospital in Garches, France, including the addition of a healing fresco designed by noted French painter Theo Lopez. Click here to watch the effort come to life.

The project marked the third year of our partnership with AFM-Telethon, a non-profit organization that supports biomedical research to fight muscular dystrophy and other diseases. In addition to the fresco, it included the colorful restoration of hospital corridors, patient rooms and other areas in the hospital’s neurology wing and featured 20 hues and 250 liters of NEOVELOURS RESIST ANTIBACTERIEN paint from our SEIGNEURIE® brand. Hospital administrators chose the color theme with guidance from our technical teams and color specialists, favoring shades of green, blue, white and warm pastel neutrals.

“Real heroes are those who work in hospitals each and every day, caring and comforting others,” Lopez said. “An artistic creation integrated into such a space can bring strength and joy to the patients and the nursing staff. I hope this project will bring hope to as many people as possible."

With support from our community engagement grantmaking program, employee donations and our matching EMEA Charity Partner program, PPG also contributed to AFM-Telethon in 2020. In addition, we promoted our partnership through 180 points of sale in the COMPTOIR SEIGNEURIE GAUTHIER network.

“The impact of the pandemic has given even more meaning to our AFM-Telethon commitment,” said Pascal Tisseyre, vice president, architectural coatings, Europe, Middle East and Africa, South. “More than ever, we want to support the hospital staff, all of whom are committed on a daily basis to patients and families.”

Due to current coronavirus health guidelines, contractors managed all painting responsibilities. PPG volunteers look forward to resuming hands-on Colorful Communities participation in the future.
