Creating STEM opportunities in an evolving manufacturing landscape

Factories of the future start with the students of today.

From our labs to our customers’ applications, PPG scientists are at the leading edge of robotics and automation possibilities. When it comes to these emerging technologies, our scientists, chemists and engineers are discovering new ways to utilize robotic technology to redefine solutions for our global society.

How do we leverage 3D printing to create less waste and more sustainable manufacturing practices? Can we amplify robotic technologies to invent new ways to build, paint and protect cars, airplanes and infrastructure? Our scientists are creating these future-forward solutions today.

As PPG inventors leverage our robotics expertise to create new opportunities in fresh and existing markets, they’ve identified skill sets required for future generations to succeed in this work. From programming to chemistry to engineering, we support partners and programs that are engaging and preparing future robotics manufacturing and research talent.

ROBOTICS ON THE MOVE

In California, the PPG Foundation partnered with X-Bots Robotics on a GoBabyGo! program, engaging PPG volunteers and Boys & Girls Clubs members to convert battery-powered cars to ride-on vehicles that help children with phsyical disabilites experience mobility. The result? An immersive lesson in engineering and giving back that brought knowledge to the participating students and joy to the children and their parents.
