Disaster relief from PPG is on its way to the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy after the area suffered catastrophic flooding that claimed more than 15 lives and left more 50,000 people displaced. The May floods ravaged more than 100 cities, towns and villages across this northern Italian region, and caused an estimated $10 billion (€8.8 billion) in damages to infrastructure, businesses, agriculture, property and housing.
PPG provides disaster relief to flooded communities in Italy
PPG has contributed a disaster relief grant to Agenzia per la Sicurezza Territoriale e la Protezione Civile Dell'Emilia-Romagna (Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection of Emilia-Romagna) to help those impacted by the disaster. Contributions from PPG employees in Italy and our 1:1 matching program generated an additional contribution.
“In times like these, every bit of assistance can make a tremendous difference," said Jessica Munarini, PPG communications associate, Industrial Coatings, EMEA, who was born and raised in Emilia-Romagna and donated to the campaign. "Thank you to PPG and all for coordinating donations to the Emilia-Romagna disaster relief effort, and for your compassion and willingness to help during this challenging time. Together, we can extend our reach and make an even greater impact on the ground. I am PPG Proud."
