Beautifying and revitalizing communities around the world

Color holds possibilities — and purpose. In every community, color has the ability to transform the way people think and feel about their surroundings and experiences. A drab classroom becomes a canvas for students’ learning. A cold, institutional hospital ward becomes a source of warmth and comfort for its patients. A dreary, bleak orphanage becomes a safe, cheerful home.

In the hands of committed volunteers, PPG paint can make life-changing differences. That’s why thousands of PPG volunteers are protecting and beautifying special places in their lives through our global Colorful Communities program.

Thanks to the energy and passion of PPG's global employees, we have positively impacted more than 10.2 million people and completed nearly 600 projects in over 50 countries since the program launched in 2015.  

In 2025, we’re extending the Colorful Communities program for another 10 years to celebrate a decade of beautifying and revitalizing communities.

REVITALIZING CLASSROOMS
In Stuttgart, Germany, 150+ volunteers redesigned a school’s interior and exterior areas and created engaging areas for students to collaborate, learn and thrive.

As part of our New Paint for a New Start initiative, our employee volunteers teamed up with GM to return to Hamtramck High School in Michigan for a colorful revitalization of learning spaces.

JOY AND BRIGHTNESS
With dedication, color and paint products, PPG volunteers in Foshan, China, transformed the Foshan Qianxi Primary School with lively murals that promote sustainable themes of forest protection and waste utilization.

NEW PAINT FOR A NEW START

PPG’s Colorful Communities program dedicated the month of July 2022 to protecting and beautifying schools around the world. Through New Paint for a New Start, PPG employees from every region volunteered their time to complete more than 30 projects and transform classroom environments to create engaging spaces for students to learn and grow.

EXPANDING OUR REACH

When we started our Colorful Communities program in 2015, our colleagues around the world jumped into action and held 11 projects in Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Turkey, South Korea, China, Australia and the U.S. We've built on that initial excitement over the past several years and have expanded into new communities, engaged more employees, and have continued to spread the Colorful Communities joy. With more than 500 projects completed to date, we are excited to keep growing and brightening our world in new and meaningful ways.
