Creek Valley Elementary, located at the corner of Gleason and Creek Valley Road, has two primary crossings that are stop controlled. With vehicular volume measuring 7,900 per day, coupled with a high crash history at the intersection adjacent to the school, it was determined this location was an ideal candidate for traffic calming measures.
Safe Schools DuraTherm® Crosswalks
A contractor was sought out to incorporate highly visible, unique crosswalks aimed at child safety and incident reduction around Creek Valley Elementary School. The “Safe Routes to School Program” committee and other city officials selected Decorative Pavement Marking LLC (DPM) company, to install ENNIS-FLINT® by PPG DuraTherm® preformed thermoplastic - a specially-designed preformed thermoplastic inlaid into imprinted asphalt and heated in place.
As a TrafficScapes Certified Applicator, DPM installed a customized Ennis-Flint by PPG DuraTherm preformed thermoplastic pattern with 12” white ENNIS-FLINT® by PPG PreMark® preformed thermoplastic transverse lines.
