Our Compact Paint Systems allow customers to reduce VOC emissions, reduce energy consumption and associated CO2 emissions, lower initial capital and operating costs by eliminating the need for a standalone primer and associated processing. They also reduce the paint shops overall footprint and increases the facilities throughput.

B1:B2™ WATERBORNE/SOLVENTBORNE

  • B1:B2 system enables the customer to reduce the number of steps necessary to paint a vehicle by eliminating the primer layer. This eliminates the dedicated primer booth and all related processing.
  • The B1 layer provides primer, filling, chip resistance and durability protection. The B2 layer provides color and additional durability.
  • Both the B1 and B2 layers are applied wet-on-wet and do not require a baking or a heated dehydration process in between
  • Compact paint processes such as the B1:B2 system from PPG generate substantial savings in capital and operating costs for automotive manufacturers by requiring a smaller paint shop footprint, reducing energy consumption, and increasing overall process efficiency

3C1B WATERBORNE/SOLVENTBORNE

  • PPG’s 3C1B Compact Paint System lowers cost and complexity by moving the traditional primer application into the topcoat booth allowing the wet-on-wet-on-wet application of primer, basecoat, and clearcoat.
  • This system uses specifically engineered paint layers to allow the process re-design while meeting appearance, performance, and throughput requirements.
  • Solventborne systems are available for processes with or without a heated flash on the primer.
  • Waterborne systems require the use of a heated flash on the primer prior to basecoat and clearcoat application.
